«London Unscripted is a project born out of a fascination with the city’s invisible texture: the soundscapes that shape daily life yet often go unnoticed. Wandering through different boroughs of London, I let chance and curiosity guide me. Parks, train stations, shopping centres, museums, libraries, cafés, and public squares all became stages for the unscripted performance of the city.
Each borough is represented as a sonic collage, sometimes layering contrasting sounds on top of one another, sometimes allowing atmospheres to flow into each other gently, and at other times clashing them in abrupt transitions. These choices reflect the city itself: fluid yet fragmented, harmonious yet chaotic, personal yet collective. Nothing was staged or predetermined; all recordings capture the raw and uncurated presence of urban life.
The intention behind London Unscripted is to invite listeners to re-experience the city through its acoustic identity, to notice the subtle patterns of everyday environments, and to reflect on how spaces influence us in ways we rarely articulate. By treating environmental sounds as material for composition, the work questions the boundary between documentary and music, structure and spontaneity, listening and inhabiting.
At its heart, London Unscripted is an ode to the multiplicity of urban life, and to the act of listening as a way of being present in the world.»
