An exploration of the microscopic soundscape. Sonic matter captured in natural environments in Llanogrande, Antioquia (Colombia) was processed in order to extract and manipulate different elements to a micro scale rearranging them into a composition which builds new emotional environments. Insect sounds, bird chanting, hydrophone recordings and rain activity were isolated, processed and reassembled preserving the essence of the original captures, but creating a variation of scale and space for the listener.

This new release from famous netlabel Impulsive Habitat delivers us recordings from Colombia, particularly from Llanogrande, Antioquia.
After extended listenings there, Miguel Isaza recorded ambiences, mostly natural, at day, at night, some other aquatic too.
But what he presents in this release goes far beyond the simple replica of this place’s ambiances, as he proceeded to numerous studio processings of his sounds. From micro-cuts, deep filters, he uses this raw material to excavate sonorities, where harmonies amplify, haloing insects stridulations and the flow of the river running nearby.
Miguel Isaza, in his manifesto, describes his approach as micro-scale reorganization, the result being an assumed and successful artistic act, where the sound identity of this location still exudes but in a magnified way. This microscopic work originates in the smallest, finally reaches the cosmic, and then the living starts resonating with welcoming elements, the earth and the wind bathing this creation.
With this new opus, Impulsive Habitat earns a coherence in making South American artists visible, and little by little becomes a platform which will hopefully one day give birth to a field recording festival in Colombia.
